چکیده
Failure of an orderly separation of the neuroectoderm from the surface ectoderm with the interposition of mesoderm (dysjunction) results in a spectrum of defects involving the skin, spinal cord, as well as the intervening mesodermal structures. Errors in dysjunction manifest as a variety of spinal dysraphic states including dermal sinus tracts (DSTs) and CITs.[4] Spinal dysraphism is seen in 2-4/1000 live births. Spinal DSTs have an incidence of 1 in 2500 live births and are common in the lumbosacral region.[5] CITs such as epidermoids, dermoids, and teratomas form along the DSTs till the spinal cord or within it.

Large Meningioma in an Infant
Abstract Background Histologically confirmed meningiomas in first year of life are quite rare. However, review of the sporadic cases in the literature reported meningioma in infants. Those have unique features in common. Case presentation An 11 month-old Iranian male infant presented with a several weeks history of decrease in movement of his right sided upper and lower extremities. Brai...
متن کاملIntraspinal meningioma with malignant transformation and distant metastasis
Meningioma is typically considered to be a benign tumor. Malignant transformation and metastasis of meningiomas are rare. Moreover, most meningiomas are intracranial, and there are few reports on intraspinal meningiomas. This report aimed to describe the clinical features and pathological findings of a case of malignant transformation and distant metastasis of intraspinal meningioma, with a rev...
متن کاملPulmonary metastasis from intraspinal meningioma.
Most intracranial and intraspinal meningiomas are benign. Aggressive "malignant" behavior of intracranial meningiomas, with distant metastases usually to the lungs, has been well described [1-4]. We report a rare case of intraspinal meningioma with distant metastases to the lungs. Our review of the literature revealed only one other case of intraspinal meningioma with metastases to the lung [5].
متن کاملIntraspinal familial clear cell meningioma in a mother and child. Case report.
The authors present a case of familial clear cell meningioma in which the proband is a child with an intraspinal tumor. The clear cell meningioma variant has recently been studied. The literature regarding clear cell meningioma is reviewed.
متن کاملNon-Dural-Based Spinal Meningioma : The First Case Report of a Fibrous Subtype and a Review of the Literature
Spinal meningiomas typically adhere to the dura matter. Non-dural based spinal meningiomas are rare and most are clear cell meningiomas. We report here the first case of a fibrous meningioma with non-dural attachment. The patient was a 49-year-old female, who complained of numbness in the legs and a gait disturbance. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a 1.7×1.4-cm mass in the C7-T1 intra-dural...
